Retired from the GBI after 34 years of service, Carolyn was a member of Rex Road Baptist Church, in Stockbridge. Independent and unafraid to speak her mind, she valued family mostespecially her grandchildren. Whether gardening or tending to her Koi pond, Carolyn enjoyed being outdoors. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gaynell (Rice) Braswell; father and step-mother, Ralph L. and Jammie Holtzclaw.Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Chris Downing of Covington; grandchildren, Zachary Downing, and his wife, Chelsea, Logan Downing; brother, Mike Holtzclaw of McDonough; sisters, Sharon Hartman, Bobbie Bendall; several nieces and nephews; as well as fur-babies, Milo and Princess.A Funeral Service for Carolyn will be held, Thursday, August 10, 2017, 11:00 AM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Denise Currie-Lowe officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. Jeanne Bruner Warren Savanovich, devoted wife and mother and proud grandmother from Center Township, passed away at age 85 on Monday, August 14, 2017, surrounded by family and special friend Sandy Davies. Born on March 16, 1932, in New Kensington, Pa., to the late Thomas and Louise (Remaley) Bruner, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Thomas and her first husband, Jack Eugene Warren (1978).Jeanne earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Slippery Rock with certifications in general science, social studies, health and physical education and elementary education; she later was awarded a Master's Degree in Education by the University of Pittsburgh. Jeanne touched the lives of many students as a reading specialist in the Center Area School District before her retirement. Additionally, she enjoyed participating with the Center Civic Women's Club, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Woodlawn Chapter and the Mt. Carmel United Presbyterian Church, Aliquippa.Jeanne enjoyed traveling; she and Milt traveled from coast to coast, particularly enjoying their semi-annual trips to Fort Myers Beach, where they enjoyed their Florida friends, golfing, bowling, swimming and reading.She is survived by her husband, Milton Savanovich; two daughters, Lynn (Sean) Currie, Alexandria, Va., and Beth (Michael) Hewitt, Aliquippa, Pa.; two step-daughters, Paula Morelli, Beaver, Pa., and Marla (Mike) Sekel, Lakeway, Texas; eight grandchildren, Michael (Gabby) Hewitt, Benjamin (Danielle) Hewitt, Lauren and Mara Yothers, Pamela Morelli and Nate (Francie) Morelli, and Mykela and Miranda Sekel; two step-grandchildren, Ryan Currie and Meghan (Jesse) Wisinski; six great-grandchildren; her aunt, Jane Ganss; and many special cousins.Friends will be received on Thursday, August 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at DARROCH CREMATION AND FUNERAL TRIBUTES INC., 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, www.darrochfuneralhome.com.
